Cost Effective Software

By Thomas Eklund

As MS Access developer, I handle all the application development tasks myself. The same applies to my working as a business analyst. I work on site, interacting directly with the relevant persons.

As IT project manager, I can work with very different technologies, but I can provide the most value so, that I interact on site with the customer as project developer and handle business analysis, project management, application architecture development and in most instances also usability-related tasks. For programming and other tasks that do not necessarily require direct interaction with the customer, I can hire via Internet on the open markets high quality service providers-developers. In most instances the relevant services cost around $15 an hour.

In the process I will be happy to pass the savings to the customer. This means, that the customer pays for my services in accordance with the agreements that we have made, either on W2, 1099 or corp-to-corp bases. For the rest of the application development tasks, the customer pays directly and separately to the developers who have been hired for these tasks on the open markets. In most instances such payments take place through the relevant companies (for example, Elance.com or oDesk.com), who also provide accounting related information.

Either way, the total cost/benefit ratio will be much more advantageous to the customer than any other organizational structure or business arrangement can produce.

I choose the remotely located developers-contractors whom I hire very carefully. Evaluation of remotely located developers and service providers requires skills and experience. Ultimately, for the customer, I am the frontier that guarantees the high quality of the application and user satisfaction. So, I have to make sure that the development process is structured appropriately, and that I work with people who can deliver the needed results.

This approach, combined with my project management and development and remotely working expertise and continuous focus on quality, enables me to produce excellent results at competitive prices.
