Objectives

I am looking for an advanced relational database application development position that may be combined with operations management or any other business management task area handling and development responsibilities, and with project management and business analysis, and management reporting or other type of report development tasks.

Preferred position provides professional growth opportunities in technical, project management and business management related areas.

Summary of the Advantages Offered

  • I have over 10 years of hands-on relational database application and report development experience. Out of this, over 5 years of experience is related to working with financial services industry companies.
  • I am especially proficient at turning data and manual work intensive, complex multi-step business processes into a database application that generates results on demand, requires fewer steps to operate and different people can use without extensive know-how. Such applications increase both quality, productivity, timeliness and employee satisfaction.
  • I have experience from all the different relational database application development and relevant software engineering areas from project management and business analysis, application architecture development, programming and objects development, to usability engineering and user interface and reports design and development. This combination is rare and sets my candidacy apart.
  • Further, I can both evaluate technical and business projects from different angles and handle, coordinate and manage different tasks.
  • Add to this experience with small, medium size and long-term projects (a year or longer).
  • Add to this service oriented disposition, analytical skills, attention to detail, persistence and familiarity with different business management areas.

What do you get as a result? You get improved business processes and database solutions that have good quality and usability, can handle complex workflows intelligently, increase user productivity, and adhere to the development budget and schedule.

As an expert-level MS Access developer I am very good at workflow and business process analysis, documentation and relevant solution development. I excel as MS Access developer, but I am familiar with other technologies as well.

As project manager and business analyst I build effective bridges between the users needs and the development capabilities. I approach project management from the goals and milestone structure perspective, identify the scope, cost-effective development steps, resource needs and other relevant variables, and reach the objectives by combining goal-oriented business creativity with self-expressive artistic creativity on as needed bases.

As management reporting specialist I can develop further existing reports and reporting functionality, or, as needed, a new and better version of reports from ground up, including reports content and design, operational key performance indicators, formulas, relevant database driven functionality, and visually informative and attractive PowerPoint slides.

In a nutshell, I do very good quality work, and have a combination of complementary skills and experiences that relatively few other people have. Can I put this to work for you?

I value professional growth and am also studying for CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Level 1 exam. This knowledge helps to further my ability to render financial industry clients needs and wants into successfully functioning database applications and other IT solutions.

Examples of Work

Below are examples of my work as business analyst and database application, report and report center developer. For most of the projects described here I also worked as the technical project manager.

  • The Previous Work Experience section contains quite a bit of descriptive information on applications, functionality and user interfaces that I have put together as database application architecture and navigation structure developer, table structure and other objects developer and programmer, and user interface designer and usability engineer.
  • Additionally, below are examples of specifications / Business Requirements Documents (BRD) that I have put together as a technical business analyst.
  • For the sake of clarity I will add here, that as database application developer / programmer / business analyst / project manager I usually work using much more agile methods than the BRD-s below indicate.
  • I have worked in a predictive, Waterfall manner and also in an agile manner. Having sufficiently comprehensive specifications and other forms of documentation can be very helpful for most IT projects. However, the documentation and the project management processes should be kept flexible enough, so that modifications can be made as needed.
  • Further, documentation should be developed cost-effectively. There is no need to develop documentation just for the sake of having documentation. The latter is wasteful usage of resources, that I do not support.
  • The first two business analysis examples represent small-to-medium size applications with relatively complex functionality.
  • The third, fourth and fifth example, the custom developed blogging website front end user-facing functionality specifications, and the back end content management system specifications, and the sales CRM application prototype, took a lot of business analysis work to put together. These are all big and complex projects by any company's standards.
  • The sixth example is an unusual project that also helped to develop further my business analysis and documentation skills. There are probably very few technical business analysts who have worked on a comparable project.
  • Putting together documentation that both the application user group representatives can understand and the developers can use is not easy. Big projects with very large number of interrelated details get exponentially difficult to document. I am one of the people who can actually do this type of work well. So, this is one of the skill sets that I offer to my employer.
  • 1) UsersRequirementsStatement_2004_01.pdf is from working with a group of people at Fleet Bank in 2004. I took about 1 month of work and meetings with both regular users and executives to put together this rather complex trainer, room and equipment scheduling application specifications.
  • 2) PD_Search_Functionality_Description.pdf is a set of specifications for custom built search functionality development. The developers were overseas. Working with the developers this way is more difficult than is working with developers with whom you can interact personally. I have worked with both onshore and offshore developers and that makes my background more valuable to my employer.
  • 3) 2010_CMM_V01_Blogging_Site_Development_V29.pdf describes custom developed blogging website functionality front end specifications and requirements.
  • 4) 2010_CMM_V01_Blogging_Site_Dev_CMS_V54.pdf describes custom developed blogging website content management system specifications and requirements.
  • 5) Putting together SalesGetter CRM sales CRM application prototype, descriptions and user interface mockups required extensive business analysis.
  • 6) While several of the above examples represent big projects, in my own opinion, the biggest and most complex project that I have worked on so far is CreativityModel Method development. Starting from scratch, without any precedent to go by, I was able to put together a scalable and programmable creative thinking skills management method that addresses goal oriented business creativity and self-expressive artistic creativity usage, so that both types of creative thinking skills can be combined as necessary.
  • CreativityModel Method can also be used for building intelligently behaving computer application functionality, so that the results can be created with less resources than artificial intelligence engineering and expert systems require.
